I have to dig deep into my memory... In the summer of 2010, I worked for two months at Den Berk in Merksplas as a seasonal worker in the greenhouse. After the short stint at Den Berk, I was sure that I would return in the summer of 2011 to work again among the tomatoes. But it wasn't just two months in 2011; it turned into several months... I loved the company culture, the job, the team so much that I decided to stay longer. At that time, I received a contract for one year.
I have progressed from seasonal work to Sorting Center Manager.
And even then, nothing was less true... I have progressed from seasonal work to Sorting Center Manager. It's nice that I have been able to develop myself in a growing organization. And I am happy that, as a result, I have become the person I am today!
What the job of Sorting Center Manager entails is simple. Along with the assistants, I ensure that the flow of our sorting center runs smoothly. I coordinate the transportation of tomatoes from the greenhouses to our sorting center in Hoogstraten. I create the daily schedule for the team leaders and manage their activities. Additionally, I monitor and order packaging materials as needed. Our sorting center comprises many technical machines that require maintenance. When technical issues arise, I, along with the team leaders, investigate and solve the problem together.

What I enjoy about the job and the organization is that I am in contact with a lot of people. I have contact with the various cultivation locations, our team leaders, drivers, and more. Moreover, my day never looks the same; it's a varied job with plenty of challenges. There is also a pleasant working atmosphere, making it enjoyable to work here.
Den Berk Délice is a growing company with a clear goal: to cultivate the tastiest tomatoes. With the relocation of our sorting center from Merksplas to Hoogstraten in 2021, the capacity has increased even more, providing a lot of variety in activities. After 13 years in service, I am still an equally big fan of this fantastic company!
