Anna Van Thillo: Responsible Cultivation

In 2021, I successfully completed my Bioengineering studies at KU Leuven. However, a new challenge quickly emerged—finding a job where I could be myself. The most important aspect for me was a good balance between desk and fieldwork. After browsing the internet for a while, I became enthusiastic about a job opportunity at Den Berk Délice. The position of cultivation manager met my requirements, and I quickly decided to join the story of Den Berk Délice.

From day one, I was warmly welcomed by the team, and I was given enough time to learn everything. At the beginning, I didn't have much knowledge about the practical side of greenhouse horticulture, so alongside my cultivation training, I also learned about all the labor procedures and various aspects of the technical installations.

This creates a collaboration within the Den Berk Délice group that, in my opinion, can be unmatched in few other workplaces.

Then, I gradually received (and still receive) more responsibilities. I learn a lot every day, and if I encounter any challenges, I know I can turn to my colleagues for help. With the expansion in Rijkevorsel, including the new greenhouse at Berkenrijs and the greenhouse under construction at Vrouwkensblok, the team has also grown significantly. We work here every day with a group of highly motivated employees, which greatly enhances the working atmosphere.

At Den Berk Délice, there is ample space for exchanging visions and ideas to arrive at the best decisions for the companies. The quality of our product always tops the priority list. Within the group, various activities are often organized to get to know each other better, and we are always encouraged to establish contacts, both with fellow leaders and seasonal workers. This creates a collaboration within the Den Berk Délice group that, in my opinion, is unmatched in many other workplaces.
